Supply Market Intelligence conference sets a new standard of excellence
CIPS Australia held the Supply Market Intelligence Conference at the Perth Novotel between 6 and 7 September. Over 50 delegates attended the conference, from the public and private sector. Speakers included Qi Wang from UBS Investment Bank discussing ‘How Wall Street analyses tech trends and markets’ and Barry Lacy from Department of Infrastructure presenting on ‘Managing risk | |||||||||||
Committee Member Profile-Wilf HeinzWilf Heinz began his career in Materials Management with the Alberta Research Council, Canada where his primary role was to provide procurement support for a number of research departments which included Microbiology, Geology, Oil & Gas and Special Projects. Following a period of travel, Wilf moved to Australia and has taken on procurement roles in various industries. He was a Buyer for Kenworth/Paccar; manufacturers of heavy duty trucks for the transport industry, and held purchasing/logistics positions with Smorgon Group and Bradken Mining. These companies support the manufacture of wear plate and block for the mining and quarrying industries and provide mining equipment refurbishment services. Currently Wilf works for Austin Engineering as Project/Purchasing Coordinator for the manufacture of original equipment such as dump truck trays, water tanks, tyre handlers, buckets for excavators and loaders. Wilf is a member on the CIPSA WA Region Committee. He is married with a teenage daughter and enjoys reading, golf, gardening and handyman activities. | |||||||||||
Committee dinnerWith many CIPS Australia staff in Perth for recent the Supply Market Intelligence conference, we thought it appropriate to take the hard-working WA Regional Committee out for a meal to say thank you for their ongoing support and to celebrate their outstanding event success. We dined at the renowned ‘Balthazar's Restaurant’ in Perth, enjoying many gourmet courses accompanied by a few lovely WA wines! Essay competition closesThe CIPS Australia National Essay Competition closed on the 30th September with entries Australia wide. Entries have been collated and sent to the regions for marking and each regional winner will be announced prior to the 2nd annual conference. Each regional winner will receive $1,000.
