Stephen Rowe addressing the audience
Stephen Rowe |
Breakfast Session – From Purchasing Manager to Chief Procurement Officer Over 30 people attended the breakfast at the Novotel in Brisbane’s CBD on 13th September to hear Stephen Rowe, CPO, Parmalat Australia, deliver an inspiring presentation on the need to push the top roles of procurement into the executive area through effective change management, leadership and corporate integration. Mr. Rowe saw the CPO’s role as one that must “…lead a journey of discovery that seeks answers to how to change the attitudes and priorities that will make strategic procurement a way of life in your organisation rather than letting it remain a tactical cost saving project.” He said that in order to truly become a CPO, one must break down the silo mentality and engage with the business on a much broader scale. The last 2006 breakfast session will be held on the 15th November so pencil that date in your diary now as it will be a forum discussion on procurement’s current hot topics.
