This event allowed both members and non-members an opportunity to gain insight to the WA Region Business Plan for 2006. The evening was somewhat of a forum, where attendees contributed their thoughts, suggestions and gave a perceptiveness based on their own experience within the profession. Bruce Christie, WA

BruceChristiephoto1aBruce Christie currently works for Woodside Energy Ltd., Australia's largest public oil and gas exploration/production company. Bruce has recently changed roles, from being the Supply Chain Manager responsible for the various Corporate Services (IT, R&D, HR, Engineering Services, etc.) to a new position within the Subsea Group providing Supply Chain and Contract Management for a major strategic equipment manufacturer.

"Woodside is facing a number of major challenges; supply markets continue to tighten as oil and gas companies seek to take advantage of high prices for their products, which is creating continuity of supply challenges, cost pressures, and requiring a strong need for market insight and monitoring. In addition, many new customer and joint venture agreements require Woodside to manage spend through highly structured commercial processes, which are creating even greater demand for supply chain support throughout the business. Add the difficulties that come with operating into new countries, some whose business and regulatory structures are only now starting to mature, and you have a unique and exciting dynamic environment that very few other Australian companies can offer.

My new role is focussed on creating a better fit for Woodside in the 'new world' ; manage an exponentially growing portfolio of business with a strategically important equipment provider, supporting standardisation and strategic stocking initiatives as a way of addressing long-lead times and delivery assurance, and improving the relationship management and 'mechanics' with a key global supplier."

Bruce currently supports CIPSA as the Vice Chairperson for the WA Region.
