Committee Member Profile - Anna Hancock

Anna HancockAnna Hancock is the CIPSA Vic/Tas officer for membership and communications. Anna works with BHP Billiton as a senior business analyst.

“The number of CIPSA members is now well over twice the number of members recorded when the Vic/Tas committee came together last year. This growing membership is exciting…because it suggests that those of us in the region with supply skills are becoming better connected. And our network is helping to build our profession.

The successes of recent events run by the Vic/Tas region and CIPSA national head office teams have raised the value of membership, while affording us more practitioner insights worthy of publishing. Our momentum has attracted excellent speakers and savvy audiences that have kept us wired to the latest news.”

If you would like to discuss the ways in which CIPSA can contribute to our profession in Victoria and/or Tasmania, please contact Anna at: anna.hancock@bhpbilliton.com

Be part of a good thing!

CIPSA is gaining ground in Victoria and Tasmania. The Vic/Tas region now links over 480 CIPS members – more than twice the number of members registered when the region first formed in August 2005. In May alone, 32 new members joined the CIPSA Vic/Tas region. Our increased membership will mean greater networking opportunities and professional insights, as well as bigger and better events, so stay tuned.

Celebrate with some goodies!
To celebrate the growth of our local procurement community, CIPSA Vic/Tas will award the 500th new member to join CIPSA in our region a devilishly large confectionary hamper.

For information on how to join, please contact the CIPSA office on 1300 765 142 or download an application form at www.cipsa.com.au.

Natalie TsirosThe VIC/TAS region is committed to young professionals entering the procurement profession. To help with this noble cause, we will be promoting individual young professionals with a profile over the next few issues….

Getting it right at the Queensland Logistics & Supply Chain Conference

The largest logistics and supply chain conference in Queensland is approaching. The Queensland Logistics & Supply Chain Conference is being held on 13 and 14 July at the Sofitel in Brisbane.

A joint initiative between LAA, CIPSA and APICS, this year’s conference focuses on “Availability” - The right product, in the right place, for the right price, at the right time. Guest speakers include Chris Munro (CEO Linfox Logistics) and Dr Pieter Nagel (Victoria University)

The conference hopes to improve on last year’s impressive attendance of 300 delegates. Delegates span the procurement and supply chain professions, allowing you to gain a broader industry prospective. Participants include CEOs, general and line managers, as well as staff from contracts, distribution, transport, warehousing and (of course) procurement professionals.

Performance Measurement Review

The Performance Measurement one day conference was held at Crown Hotel in Melbourne on the 29th June. There was 3 case studies presented from BHP Billiton, Coles Myer and Fosters. The feedback from delegates was above average, with delegates responding 80% excellent and highly relevant. Portland group was the gold sponsor for the event, with canapés and evening drinks sponsored by HRG Australia.

Innovation on show at the CIPSA Annual Conference

The term “innovation” is thrown around quite a bit these days, but we think it’s truly time for the procurement profession to join in and embrace some fresh thinking. That’s why our 2006 annual CIPSA conference will focus on “Innovation in Procurement”- showcasing a wide variety of new thinking, new ideas, new practices and useful innovations for all practitioners to consider.

Held on 17 and 18 October in Melbourne, and based on a similar format to last years successful event, the conference will include a mixture of plenary and streamed sessions, while also providing the delegates with great networking opportunities. The event will also include an invitation-only CPO stream on day one of the conference.

A world class line-up of top speakers is being finalised now. The full programme will be available soon. Visit our website to learn more, at: www.cipsaconferences.com.au
