Recruitment is BuoyantFurther signs of a buoyant recruitment market within the procurement profession in Victoria were evident during July. CIPSA was invited to speak to two significant events hosted by different procurement agencies that have specialist procurement teams – Hudson and Michael Page. CIPSA Managing Director, Jonathan Dutton, spoke to a significant Hudson audience of procurement professionals and HR managers and outlined the importance of professional standards in procurement – currently the fastest growing profession in business and future skills required of the profession. The private Michael Page event is on 23rd August. On Saturday, 8 July 2006alone there were six major job advertisements for senior procurement positions in The Age newspaper Section One. In fact, CIPSA has been monitoring all national newspapers and major regional newspapers that have advertisements for significant roles in the profession. This monitoring research is tracking the buoyancy of the recruitment market for procurement professionals and the results of the research will be published soon and fed into a seminar session at the annual conference in Melbourne on 18th October. The seminar will address the difficulty of recruiting and retaining high quality procurement professionals within the current market environment. The seminar will feature a ‘talk show’ type debate with a panel of experts comprising a leading procurement manager, recruitment agency, HR consultancy and a “head hunter” to discuss the issues involved. In addition to Hudson and Michael Page, other recruitment agencies with specialist procurement teams active in Melbourne include Hayes, Tanner Menzies, BOMweb and ProcureNet. |
