QLDEventFirst Members Networking Meeting

CIPS Queensland held its first Members Networking Meeting on the 2nd November at Chifleys in Brisbane’s CBD. The evening was attended by over 30 procurement and supply chain professionals with a mix of CIPS members and non-members. CIPS Queensland’s Chairman, René Kling welcomed the group and introduced the committee members. Mr Kling also discussed the committee’s Business Plan with the group and highlighted the events calendar for 2006. It was encouraging to have so many well respected industry professionals present who, by bringing their expertise and enthusiasm to the group, made the evening such a success. The committee is now challenged to make the next meeting on the 18th January next year an even greater success. CIPS members are also welcomed to join the committee to discuss a range of issues each month. For the details of the committee meetings please contact tony_fitzgerald@health.qld.gov.au.

2006 Events Kick-off

The 2006 events calendar for CIPS Queensland is a very busy and exciting one. Kicking off with a Business Breakfast Presentation on the 1st February. Several other breakfast and members meetings will be held throughout the year in Brisbane’s CBD. Both members and non-members are encouraged to attend both meetings as the CIPS Queensland Committee presents industry leaders offering sound advice in relevant business topics and business cases for us all to learn from. These events also provide attendees with a wonderful opportunity to network peers and other professionals across a broad range of industries. Any suggestions for topics to be addressed at the Business Breakfast Presentations can be forwarded to billie.gorman@pinerivers.qld.gov.au. It is certainly going to be an exciting and busy year for CIPS Queensland.

Supply Chain Conference calls for suggestions

In order to support our colleagues in the procurement profession, CIPS Queensland is calling for suggestions on topics to be covered at the Supply Chain Conference in July next year. CIPS is a major supporter of the event and as such is called upon to provide sessions on procurement related topics. Suggestions have already included Alliance Contracting, Amendments to the Local Government Act’s Contracts and Tendering section, Commercial Law and Risk Analysis. Anyone wishing to nominate other topics for consideration by the CIPS Queensland committee should forward them to rkling@rmkconsulting.com.au.
