JohnRobertsonACT Branch up and running

The ACT branch is up and running with two events completed so far – the first was an afternoon seminar forum with the ACT Department of Treasury’s Procurement Solutions Division (responsible for ACT Government Procurement). Over 45 people heard Lincon Hawkans introduced the strategy for Canberra's century celebrations, John Robertson outlined the new government procurement guidelines and Jonathan Dutton explained the benefits of CIPSA.

Breakfast 'Roadmap' Event

A breakfast event was held to hear Dr Stephen L Starling speak about his “Roadmaps” methodology in the drive for value within the procurement function. Dr Starling also spoke later in the week at the CIPSA annual conference in Melbourne. The event was very well received by over 30 people and ACT will build upon these successes in the New Year with further information evenings and seminar events.

CIPSA Bid to DMO

CIPSA are currently tendering to DMO to join the Standing Offer Panel of professional bodies which are planned to be mapped on to the new job families defined within DMO as part of the professionalisation initiative.  A decision is expected prior to Christmas.  DMO have also shown interest in CIPSA helping them redesign their current and future procurement training programmes, and discussions around this have been ongoing now for the last few months.  A final Statement of Work required is currently anticipated before long.

Look out for more in 2006!

More events happening in this state will be organised for the New Year so stay tuned!!
